WHO ARE WE?
Guelph-Wellington Master Gardeners are certified horticultural experts who provide in-depth sustainable gardening information to the general public on a volunteer basis.
We are 1 of 31 Chapters in the Province of Ontario comprising over 700 members under the auspices of Master Gardeners of Ontario, Inc. (MGOI, a non-profit, registered charitable organization).
Our geographic area covers Guelph, Fergus, Elora, Rockwood, Mount Forest, Arthur, Erin, and the Townships of Wellington County.
In our Chapter there are 40 volunteers and each one commits to 30 service hours per year helping the public with horticultural expertise. Examples of activities involved in those service hours are: advice clinics, public information sessions, conducting seminars and workshops, providing gardening information via newspaper articles and public lectures, offering advice through our Help Line, etc.
Our volunteers are also expected to upgrade their skills through technical training annually.
We are happy to have prospective members join our monthly meetings to see what we are all about!
